Marriage is so important. It’s something that has to be worked at. It does not come easy. There are difficult times, but there can be amazing times together as well. As my husband and I near onto ten years of marriage (I was 20 and he was 26 when we married), I can look back and know we’ve both grown a huge amount.College, careers, 1 difficult pregnancy, 1 pregnancy loss, 1 easy pregnancy, a home, friends, family, church, bad days, good days, anniversaries …. our stories are so intertwined. Often times I think couples forget to cherish that time together and memorialize their life together – I know I do. It’s easy to get wrapped up in daily life.
So whether you’ve been in a relationship for a long time, engaged, or married 1 year or 40 – consider a session just for yourselves. I have been studying the Beloved Photography – a unique style of photography in which the session and the images are a celebration of your love. This is an area, I am encouraged to venture into and would love to venture in to as time goes on. A Beloved Session is supposed to be an experience – a celebration of love.
An excerpt from the Beloved website:
“What is most precious to you? Is it money, your house, clothes, car? Or is it love? Love is a beautiful gift that thrives when cherished and nurtured. Love is always a part of us, but it needs to constantly be rediscovered and valued again and again throughout our lives and in our relationships. A beloved portrait session strives to be one small building block in your investment in your relationship with your beloved.
What do you love about your beloved? Is it the way they are dressed or what they look like? Or is it the little things, the way their hair blows across their face, how their eyes light up when they smile, how they hold your cheek, how they curl up so perfectly into your arms?
A beloved portrait session is not just a photo shoot, it’s a celebration of love and genuine communication. As beloved photographers, we want to make honest images that move people, that document these small moments that you cherish but perhaps sometimes forget. These images serve as a doorway to bring two people back to the beginning of their journey together. We invite couples to share a piece of themselves and capture valuable moments through the art of photography”
