Last weekend I had the joy of photographing little Dorothy – or as her Daddy called her, ‘Little Lady’. ๐
In true 18 month old style, she was busy. ha ha! She is such a sweet little girl and she reminded me of my own 14 month old at home. One of my favorites is this image of her parents smiling at their sweetheart while she was swinging. I just love the connection! You can see the love in their eyes. ๐
Thank you Theresa and Jason! It was wonderful to meet you and your little lady.
I truly do enjoy photographing families. As a Mother myself, there are those moments you know are fleeting and you know you need to soak them up while you have them. Children are little for such a short time. Photographs are there to remind us of those times past. I love to capture connections between family members – because its all about you and your relationship together.
And sometimes those connections are with siblings, pets, or a connection between the viewer and the subject in the image.
I promised I would share a few more from a recent session from a prior blog post (click HERE). I love the pop of color with these balloons! When I consult with families before a session, I like to brainstorm some objects we could include to show the personality of the child. These two loved red balloons. And the handsome young man loves books. I want families to be able to look back on their images and remember the personality of the child as well. ๐
Jill, you do an AMAZING JOB!!! I LOVE LOVE these balloon pictures! I’ll say it again, you need to come to SD to photograph our fam! You truly have an great talent! great job!

Jill! I LOVE the wagon shots….. absolutely beautiful!
Our twin’s (Nicholas & Celia) favorite cartoon (for a long time now) has been Maurice Sendak’s Little Bear. I think its one of the sweetest cartoons ever made. We have a teddy bear that they play with that they named ‘Little Bear’. This morning Celia tried one of her new Matilda Jane dresses (which we both love) and after a braid in her hair, her and I were off to a local nature center to take some pictures (which was part of the deal – daughter gets a dress, I get to photograph her in the dress! lol).
It was super sweet to spend time alone with her. It’s really interesting how a child’s personality seems to change when you are 1:1. We spent a quick 20 min or so at the park (read ‘we were eaten alive by mosquitos’) and then headed home. Celia thought it was so special that Little Bear got to sit in Nicholas’ carseat during the drive. ๐
