This spring I offered a session to my friend’s family when she told me her husband was leaving this fall for Iraq or Afghanistan. A sort of ‘good-bye’ session. Her and I decided we’d make a little album of the session for Dan, her husband, to take with him when he leaves. There is a lot of love pouring out of this family. You can just tell they care deeply for each other.
I try to be strong in front of people, but things like this (well, and honestly, a lot of things) get to me. When this war started I was still finishing college and newly married.
Now, as a mom, the empathy runs much deeper to these military families. To imagine my husband being away and my own children missing him… it brings a lump into my throat. Writing this right now, my screen looks a bit wavy with the tears welling up in my eyes. This is such a incredible sacrifice these families make for our country. My wish is that these images help get them through some tough times apart.
So thank you, Dan, for your service to our country. May God bless you and keep you safe. Please keep all our soldiers & their family’s in your prayers.
Daniel Brown - I just want to say thank you to first off to Jill, these pictures will really help over the coming year and you did an excellent job. Secondly, to everyone who supports myself and the army in general, you are the people I love and fight for. Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank my wife for all the support she gives and how she really is an unsung hero in all of this.
Julie Kraai - I am tearing up looking at these photos. You did a wonderful job capturing the love between the family members. I echo the above in thanking Dan for serving our country so valiantly. I am so thankful for wonderful, committed soldiers that our country has.
Barbara Brown - Thanks, Jill, great memory for his mom and dad, too! And yes, I am crying very hard right now, remembering how hard it was to see our “baby boy” deployed the first time- now to have to watch him say goodby to his wife and baby….this is worse.
Joanna - Awesome – you did a great job on these Jill!
Nicole - OMG Jill, that was so touching! I was tearing up, too! Beautiful pictures as always! Thank you to Dan for his service to our country. My prayers are with you and your fellow soldiers every day.
